Flipkart Big Billion Days: are the discounts real?

Flipkart has not announced the dates yet. In our own price records the deepest prices of the sale landed on 25 September 2025 and 29 September 2024, so the last week of September is the window to plan around. We update this page when the dates are confirmed.

Some listings do, but it is not the norm. Across 183 tracked products through the last two sales, 19% were selling for more than 2% above their previous month's price in the run-up — roughly one in five. The median markup among those was around 8%. The other four in five were flat or already falling. Treat the markup as a real risk on individual products rather than a blanket rule.

Usually. For 83% of the products we tracked, the lowest price during the sale genuinely beat what the product had been selling for beforehand, and 63% beat it by more than 10%. The advertised percentage is still often overstated, because stores calculate it from the list price rather than from the recent selling price — but the underlying saving was real more often than not.

On the evidence, waiting pays off more often than not — but not always, and not for everything. We found products that hit their lowest price before the sale opened and never moved again during it. The reliable approach is to start tracking the specific product now, so that when the sale price appears you can compare it against a benchmark you recorded yourself.

Open the product's price history page on Price History and look at the last three months. If the line steps up in the weeks before the sale and the "deal" price sits at or above where it was before that step, the discount is measured from an inflated base. If the line is flat or falling and the sale price breaks below it, the saving is real.

Stores calculate the advertised percentage against the listed MRP, which is often far above what anything actually sells for. We calculate against the product's own recent selling price, which is the number that decides whether you are better off. We record the selling price a shopper actually pays, not the struck-through MRP shown next to it. A listing whose MRP is inflated while its selling price stays put would not register here — so this audit can neither confirm nor rule out MRP inflation specifically.
